ABSTRACT

The congenital toxoplasmosis happens when the woman is primoinfected during gestation. The acute infection in pregnant women is not demonstrated in around 90% of the cases. A case of 33,3 weeks new born appears, 1966 grams weight, Apgar 9/9, with maternal antecedents of infertility and presented retroplacental hematoma of 50% that took it to the pregnancy interruption by high route of urgency, with delayed prenatal diagnosis of “hydrocephalus” that is stated at birth; also it observes manifold clinical findings such as: prominent forehead, open anterior and posterior fontanelles, as well as opened sutures, cephalic circumference: 31.5 cm, short palpebral fissures and hepatosplenomegaly of ± 3 cm, all this make suspect a congenital infection group TORCH, reason why ultrasonografic study and TAC is carried out to him as well as extractions of blood, the diagnosis of congenital toxoplasmosis in the Tropical Medicine Institute “Pedro Kourí” is stated. It is derived to the Neurosurgery Service from Camagüey where it passes away to the 9 months of life by infection of the central nervous system.
