ABSTRACT

The phlegmasia cerulla dolens is isquemic venous thrombosis in a reversible state of unknown cause and is a consequence of acute venous obstruction of a venous vascular trunk. The diagnosis and the efficient treatment are vital to prevent gangrene. This is a rare illness in the daily clinic practice; this is the reason why our professionals in this field must know about this type of cases in order to expand their knowledge and to apply it adequately. Here is a female patient who arrived to Military Hospital of Aden, Republic of Yemen, with characteristic signs and symptoms of phlegmasia cerulla dolens. The diagnosis was clinically and echocardiographically confirmed. The progression was satisfactory with the treatment used.
