ABSTRACT

This is the case of a male patient ages 5 seen in the Children Intensive Care Unit of the “Dr. Luis Díaz Soto” Central Military Hospital who during a pharyngotonsillitis developed a cervical adenopathy and later it appears high fever, jaundice and abdominal pain. This case is considered as a carrier of a septic extra-hepatic infectious acute cholangitis with involvement of other organs and manifestations of severe sepsis ruling out other causes of acute cholangitis. In the Children Intensive Care Units (CHICU) it is no frequent to receive patients presenting with infectious acute cholangitis during a severe sepsis. Treatment of this case includes: antimicrobials, albumin, and diuretics having a satisfactory course.
