ABSTRACT

The leishmaniasis are vector-borne diseases with broad clinical spectrum and important epidemiological diversity. His presence is directly linked to poverty, but other social factors in addition to environmental and climatic directly influence its epidemiology. They are endemic in 98 countries. The leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease caused by different species of Leishmania protozoa hemoflagellates affecting the skin, mucous membranes and viscera of man and various animals. Usually transmitted by the bite of the female of a small mosquito (sand fly), genera Phlebotomus (Old World) or Lutzomyia (New World)
