ABSTRACT
Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by low bone mass and loss of bone
tissue that leads to weak and fragile bones.
Purpose: The aim of this
prospective study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a rehabilitation
program with trunk Isokinetic exercises in flexion-extension and rotations
for three months in female patients with primary osteoporosis of the hip and
lumbar spine to increase the bone mineral density (BMD).
Methods: Twelve
patients were include in the study and they were divided in 2 groups. Group
A 57 a 65 years (59.7) received the classic training program for this
patients and the Group B 57 a 64 years (60.5) received the classic training
program and trunk Isokinetic exercise in flexion-extension and rotations.
Results: The statistics analyses (t Student) between DMOI and DMOF was
p > 0.05.
Conclusions: We consider necessary to increase the sample and
the range of motion in flexion to 70° and also make a follow up to 6 months
and 1 year to observe these changes.
