As the Nursing Day is celebrated in May, different forums and conferences are held. It is pertinent then to pay tribute to the nurses who have had an impact on the profession. In this paper, the authors have the purpose of presenting the professional, academic and political life of Genoveva Alard Olivé. Her family origins, basic and university studies, her nursing and teaching work, as well as aspects related to her job and received awards, are highlighted along the paper. Data were mainly collected by means of interview in depth, which was supplemented by review of her work record after obtaining Genoveva's consent.
