ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the application of a guiding instrument to make the community socio-historical cultural diagnosis as the way for the final evaluation of the History and Medicine discipline.
Method: An action-research was conducted including the theoretical and methodological creation of the instrument, and subsequent evaluation of its implementation was put into practice. The systemic and modeling approaches were used for elaborating the tool. Evaluation was developed through surveys given to students and professors, and the practical application of the instrument was made to a sample established with 300 students of the academic year 2008-2009.
Results: The guiding instrument for carrying out the socio-historical cultural diagnosis of the community consists of four main parts I) construction of the geographical space, II) Economic structures, III)Social and political organization; IV) Spiritual creation. Opinions expressed by professors and students about the tool were satisfactory. 68, 3% and 19, 3% of the evaluated students obtained 4 and 5 respectively on the subject final exam.
Conclusions: The evaluation tool elaborated allows making a suitable socio-historical cultural diagnosis of the community. The results of its practical application, the opinions conveyed by the students and the professors, confirmed the instrument effectiveness.
