Epidemiología del melanoma ocular

ABSTRACT

Background: ocular or uveal melanoma is a disease in which cancer cells are found in the uvea. The uvea contains cells called melanocytes. When these cells become cancerous, the cancer called ocular melanoma, which is manifested by loss of visual function and subsequently threaten the patient’s life. Most of ocular melanoma is asymptomatic, the diagnosis is made by indirect ophthalmoscopy eye . The chance of cure depends on the clinical behavior and pathological characterization of these tumors. Curative treatment is enucleation with or without radiation therapy
