ABSTRACT

The snake bite poisoning is an important public health problem in Costa Rica and Central America. This problem causes high morbidity and mortality in our country and is responsible for various sequelae in people who suffer these accidents, since most cases are younger patients, and in some institutions are considered accidents, since patientsworking at the time of the bite of the serpent. Various institutions have focused on the study of this problem and finding solutions to it, in order to reduce their impact on the health system and the patients who suffer. In the present article will review the most important aspects related to this subject, basic skills for identification and management.
