ABSTRACT

Escherichia coli is a Gram negative. Almost all variables commensal E. Constuyen coli intestinal flora. Usually urinary tract infections are due to hygiene, urinary catheter insertion and intercourse. It is the most common agent of urinary tract infections in women because of their short urethra. Among the elderly, UTIs tend to be in the same proportion of men and women. Since bacteria invariably enter the urinary tract through the urethra (ascending infection), poor health habits can predispose to infection, however, other factors become important, such as pregnancy, benign or malignant prostate, and many cases the event that initiates the infection is unknown. While ascending infections are the cause of lower urinary tract infections or cystitis, this is not necessarily the cause of higher infections such as pyelonephritis, which may be hematogenous in origin.
