ABSTRACT

Erythema nodosum is a common clinical manifestation secondary to the limited response the anterior part of the skin over the tibia can conceive to a variety of harmful stimuli. The lesions begin as red, bland nodules and progress into more indurated, bluish and painful lesions. Erythema nodosum is one of the many variants of panniculitis. Known causes are varied, ranging from infectious diseases, to drugs and even sarcoidosis. In many instances the etiology is idiopathic. This pathology is usually selflimited and has a very benign prognosis.
