ABSTRACT

Contact dermatitis account for 40 to 60% of all occupational diseases and up to 95% of dermatoses of occupational origin. Of these, the most frequent are those affecting the hands. This type of dermatitis undertake not only the labor activity of patients but also their quality of life. Accurate diagnosis requires in many cases, application of patch tests so that we can provide successful management. The prognosis is determined by the type of contact dermatitis in case, the causal agent, the correct diagnosis and patient education. In this paper, the case of a podiatrist with dermatitis of long duration is presented, the definitive diagnosis was allergic hands dermatitis by contact to conservatives and vulcanizing chemicals.
