ABSTRACT

Sinus node dysfunction is a major cause of pacemaker implantation. It is a chronic and progressive disorder occurring mainly in the elderly then its presentation since adolescence is rare. The current data that included history, definition, clinical and electrocardiographic findings, etiology, diagnosis and treatment is reviewed. A 26-year old female patient with recurrent syncope for the last 10 years that has been treated as epilepsy is reported. During admission the rhythm disturbances and transitory cardiac conduction disorders finding were consistent with sick sinus syndrome. Epilepsy is revoked and the patient is referred to the Institute of Cardiology with the diagnosis of sinus node dysfunction.
