ABSTRACT

Since 2010, it began a process of transformations in the Program of Family Medicine in the municipality of Jovellanos, province of Matanzas, to assure the sustainability of the health care sector services. The current work was carried out with the aim of assessing the impact of that transformation process according to the indicators of the Program of Family Medicine in the municipality of Jovellanos during 2013. We used the observational descriptive method based on the analysis of health indicators and the aims of the Ministry of Public Health for 2013. The information was obtained from the Municipal Department of Medical and Statistic Records, and we chose the ones from 2012 and 2013. For data processing and analysis we used percentage calculation and the frequency distribution expressed in charts and graphics. The results showed positive aspects like the increase of general consultations and consultations of the family physician; nevertheless, we found inefficacy in the usage of the diagnostic means.
