ABSTRACT

Introduction: The osteoarthritis is an affection that causes morbidity from remote times. It has been informed that it affects to 10 % of the adults bigger than 60 years and it damages any articulation although, those most affected ones, they are the knee and the hip
Objective: To determine the demographic characteristic partner of the patients with osteoarthritis assisted in the Rheumatology Center.
Methodology: I study descriptive in 1067 patients with diagnostic of osteoarthritis according to approaches of Rheumatology American College, they were determined the demographic variable partner, as well as the presence and comorbidities type and/or noxious habits
Results: The age average was of 65.32 years. The biggest gender frequency corresponded to the feminine gender with 77 %. The group to articulate more affected they were the knees with 46.76 %, the time of more frequent evolution the one went from 1 to 5 years with 50 % of the total of the sample. 60 % of the patients presented comorbidity and/or noxious habits highlighting the hypertension, the tobacco, the arthritis rheumatoid, the diabetes mellitus and the obesity.
Conclusions: The patients prevailed with ages between 60 and 69 years, feminine sex, in advance of evolution between 1 and 5 years, with high percent of associate comorbidities and linked labor. The group to articulate more affected they were the knees, followed by spine, hips and hands respectively.
