ABSTRACT

Type II Autosomal Dominant Osteopetrosis, is a genetic condition characterized by generalized osteosclerosis with increased osteodensity caused by a defect in bone reabsortion, by aberrant osteoclast. The fragility of dense sclerotic bones may lead to an increased incidence of fractures especially of the hip and proximal femur. We present a 24 year female with osteopetrosis type II suffering a subtrochanteric fracture, managed with open reduction and a Rush nail.
