Key words:

Alcoholism, coronary heart disease.

ABSTRACT

In the last years had appeared many questions about alcohol and coronary heart disease. There is some evidence about inverse relation between alcoholism and myocardial infarction, and a risk reduction in men over 45 years old and women over 55 years old. In groups between 60 to 79 years old, the risk reduction is important in people that consume one to two drinks in a day, but if the people do not modify other risk factor, like smoking, the risk reduction is not statistically significant.
