ABSTRACT

Free intraperitoneal air is an important radiological finding. Its presence frequently traduces an abdominal emergency and trying to determine its probable origin is of the outmost importance.
Communications between virtual peritoneal and retroperitoneal spaces, wich in normal conditions are closed, lets air and liquid go through different cavities and also explain the dissemination of morbid processes whatever their etiology (infectious, neoplasic and others).
