ABSTRACT

Thirty nine-year-old male patient who was involved in a motor vehicle accident and sustained injuries in several sites that included a Gustilo and Anderson grade III open supracondylar elbow fracture. Surgical lavage was performed and transolecranon skeletal traction was applied for one week; several surgical procedures were performed due to humeral pseudoarthrosis, as well as a fully constrained total elbow arthroplasty with reattachment of the triceps to the olecranon. Rehabilitation was started immediately and the patient was evaluated on a weekly basis. Currently after 4 years of evolution the patient has 100° of flexion, 0° of extension, and 80° of pronosupination. According to the Morrey et al. system, the result was rated as good.
