ABSTRACT
The problem of drug dependence as a health problem has reached in recent years a special significance to the extent that its implications, and incalculable, beyond the limits of health and into other areas such as social, political, economic and others, relating to the future of mankind; but in addition it seems that modern society has only lived, to date, the eve of what will be one of the great evils of this century: the uncontrollable rise of substances and addictive behaviors. Our country, like the rest of Latin America, has an influence of smoking and alcoholism, which adversely affect the health of people, despite preventive efforts developed in recent decades, has not decreased significantly the negative impact of these toxic habits also considered gatekeepers consumption of illicit toxic on the health system. This coupled with the growing development of tourism and other socio-economic changes that have been forced to adopt the country as a result of the unjust US blockade and our geographical position flattering to wash ashore drug, have been factors behind the increase in illicit drug use in recent years.REFERENCES
