Treatment with collagen polyvinylpyrrolidone and eccentric isotonic strengthening suprapatellar tear. A case report

ABSTRACT

Female patient who suffers left knee injury after effort (down stairs). Physical therapy which reduces symptoms starts. This recurrence after performing jogging for a few days. A video observation of real-time eccentric quadriceps overload is detected in the patient and supported flexed ankle while running. Ultrasound is requested which reports suprapatellar tendon tear 30%. After physical therapy sessions polyvinylpyrrolidone collagen is applied, one dose weekly for four sessions and quadriceps strengthening eccentric 80% 1 RM. Subsequently control ultrasound is measured at the 10% observed tear, treatment is continued for four more sessions. Ultrasound is performed subsequently in which no longer evidence of tearing, so the patient was discharged for improvement.
