ABSTRACT

Cutaneous malakoplakia is a rare chronic granulomatous disease of unknown origin. Predominant in men in their sixties or seventies, it is often associated with chronic infections, autoimmune diseases and immunosuppression (mostly HIV and individuals with immunosuppressive therapy).
This paper describes a 32 year-old male, with no comorbidities and a 15-year history of atrophic scars, nodular and indurated lesions in the buttocks. The patient was given a trimethoprim/ sulfamethoxazole (800/160 mg twice daily) scheme, but never returned for follow-up.
