A case report of lingual gnathostomiasis

ABSTRACT

Human gnathostomiasis is native to the Eastern and southeaster Asia mainly Thailand and Jopan. This disease is found in 11 states ofthe Mexican Republic¡ being Nayarit the main endemic zone of the country where the human gnathostomiosis represents a serious public health problem, between 1995 and 2005 there hove been reported 6328 clinical cases that puf the state in the first place nationally. The present reports the first dinical case of lingual gnathostomiasis in a mole patient from Tepic City, with o history of eating raw fish uceviche", infected with advanced third stage larvae binudeatum gnathostoma. Moleculary identified bye León-Reganor et al. 2002¡ Alvarez-Guerrero and Alba-Hurtado 2007. The patient attends dental office with pain and swelling in the tongue; clinically it was observerd an inflamatory orcl􀀜 A case report of lingual gnathostomiasis reaction at the left edge, laboratorial studies are called to determine leukocytosis and eosinophilia. The patient was treated with evermectin (lvexterm) a single dose of 12mg orally. The disappearance of clinical symptoms were observed at 48 hours after the treatment and the parasite was recovered in 72 hours bye manual pressure and then identified morpholically.
