ABSTRACT
The consequences of lingual and/or labial perforation has been evaluated in foreign populations, while its repercussion in México is little documented. This study was developed by means of an armed buccal exploration in a sample of students between 16 and 21 years with a minimum of one year of having inserted lingual or labial piercings, it was determined the presence of lesions in the soft and hard structures of the mouth. Finding dental mobility from 22 to 16%, fractures of the enamel from 60 to 64%, fissures in 62%, parodontal bleeding from 2 to 12% and pain in the same structure from 38 to 44%. They also presented lips´s pain in a 12% of the sample, it was found a 67% abnormalities of the language in speech´s articulation. It can be concluded that the insert of the earring causes deterioration in buccal health and affects oral communication.REFERENCES
