ABSTRACT

The present work contains a brief description of the emergence and development of the Medical Sciences University of Granma (MCUG), taking like a starting point the foundation of the University of Havana in the year 1728; and acknowledging the East University, which was created in 1947, like the initial seed of the current universities in the east of Cuba. Besides it is performed an analysis of the evolution of the MCUG from the statistical behaviour of the register throughout the 30 years of the beginning of the Medical Sciences formation in Granma, and there are emphasized, in a comparative way, the statistics of the different careers in the most remarkable periods of the health formation in Cuba during the last three decades. Finally, it is made a valuation of the medical formation in Granma, showing the statistical data that support the investigation.
