Key words:

Streptokinase fibrinolytic system, the coagulation cascade, coloproctology, hemorrhoidal crisis.

ABSTRACT

The streptokinases are a grup of proteins in the human extrinsic fibrinolytic system, which need to be activated to give a common factor in the formation of plasminogen, which later will be transformed into plasmin, thus being able to interrupt the cascade of coagulation. His medical application dates back to the early twentieth century in therapeutic trials where it was used to dissolve a pleural effusion. Currently its use is not limited to a medical specialty, since knowing the mechanism of action and dosing allowed competing with other similar drugs. The therapeutic application area ranges from the emergency room, cardiology, ophthalmology, etc.; until his recent passing in the area of coloproctology for treating hemorrhoidal crisis.
