ABSTRACT

Onychomycosis is the most common nail pathology. The main etiologic agents are dermatophytes, yeasts and molds. The prevalence of Fusarium spp., a non dermatophyte mold in onychomycosis has increased in recent years, from 0.97% up to 7.8%. These findings are variable depending on the affected nails, geographic factors, and patient’s medical history. The fingernails involvement is very exceptional, varying from 0% to 5.5%. We present a 68 year-old diabetic female, with a total dystrophic fingernail onychomycosis, caused by Fusarium spp. We reviewed the available literature.
