ABSTRACT

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is caused by protozoa of the gender Leishmania and the inhabitants of the south-eastern states of Mexico are frequently affected. The most common clinical form is the ulcer, and only 5% of cases involve more than one anatomical site. Pentavalents antimony salts (Sb5+) are treatment of choice for different clinical forms. We report a 34 year-old male patient, resident of Gomez Farias, Jalisco. He presented ulcerated lesions on the forehead, below his lower lip, on the neck and right forearm. The diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis was made by the histological study of these lesions. A progressive resolution was obtained with intramuscular treatment with antimonial derivate Glucantime® .
