ABSTRACT
Until 2007, Chikungunya virus was only present in Africa, Asia and India. During that year transmission of the virus was first reported in Europe, in northern Italy. In December 2013, PAHO / WHO received confirmation of the first cases ofindigenous transmission of Chikungunya in the Americas. The newsletter offers, updated bibliography on the diagnosis, prevention and control of this disease.
