ABSTRACT
It takes a dental negative impression and their surrounding structures to get a cast in which a restauration is made. A good impression is a negative and exact replica of each prepared tooth and should include all preparated surfaces and a good quantity of dental surfaces no prepared close to the margin. Health of the soft tissue and the control fluids are critical to the success of the impression. However it is important to avoid gum damage. Cotton rolls could be necessary, saliva ejectors to get control of humidity. During the impression technique is recommended to apply a local anesthesia in then area of preparation to avoid pain and reduce the saliva fluids. Metal, chemical and surgical methods to widen the gingival sulcus and to obtain access to preparated tooth margin recommended, a simple floss retraction with a soft astringent (example, ALCL3) is suggested. It is necessary to use a resin custom tray when taking an impression with addition silicone because it has the best dimensional stability and it is possible to store for long time before pouring.REFERENCES
