ABSTRACT

Pemphigus vulgaris (pv) is an autoimmune acquired disease, characterized by the presence of flaccid blisters that leave areas of denuded skin. Pemphigus vegetans is a rare variety of pemphigus with the next histopathological findings: hyperkeratosis, epidermal hyperplasia, suprabasal papillomatosis, blisters and presence of eosinophils. We report a case of a 43 year-old woman, with vulvar involvement characterized by increase of volume, erythema, and itching. This case was compatible with the vegetans variety of pemphigus vulgaris; the diagnosis was confirmed due to the excellent response to the treatment with prednisona. This is the first case of pemphigus vegetans with exclusive genital affection reported in Mexico.
