Medical urgencies in the medical advanced office deployed in Santa María del Mar

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Among the recreational and enjoying alternatives of the family in Havana, it has been made traditional going to the warm beaches of the north coast of the capital fundamentally in the months of summer. Objective: Showing the results of assistential work of the medical advanced office of Santa María del Mar in the period of summer in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012. Method: Descriptive, retrospective study of the 681 patients assisted in the medical advanced office deployed in the center of training of Santa María del Mar corresponding to the period of summer during the years 2010, 2011 and 2012. Results: Tendency to the increment of the cases from the month of June even to finals of August and per years. The most frequent age corresponded with young adults. The 67.2% of the patients lives in other municipalities of the capital. The first causes of attendance were the minor wounds mainly in extremities, face and hairy leather. The 92% solved their reason of attention in the own medical office, only moving the 7.6% of the cases to the hospital. Conclusions: In the three analyzed trimesters of the 2010 to the 2012, the tendency of the demands of urgencies has been upward. The weekends are the days of greater assistential demand. The 92% of the attentions solved with treatment in situ.
