ABSTRACT

Introduction: The cerebrovascular illnesses are a problem of world health; they constitute the third cause of death, the first cause of discapacity in the adult and the second cause of insanity.
Objective: Identifying the factors hypothetically related with the death for intracerebral spontaneous supratentorial hemorrhage.
Method: They were studied 123 patients with the diagnosis of intracerebral spontaneous supratentorial hemorrhage in the units of intensive and intermediate therapies of the hospital Carlos Manuel of Cespedes of Bayamo between January 1st of 2008 and November 30th of 2010. Among the investigated variables were the neurological state, the clinical and laboratory parameters, and the discoveries of neuroimage.
Results: From the studied patients the 43.9% died. In the unvaried study the presence of breathing arrhythmia to the admission (RR 4.570 IC 95% 1,831- 11,411), and the punctuation of the scale of Glasgow to the admission (RR 3.596 IC 95% 2,160-5,989) were the variables that were more associated with the risk of dying during 30 days. The main independent factors associated with death were the punctuation in the scale of Glasgow 12 points (OR 12.670 IC95% 4,191- 38,305) and the displacement of the structures of the half line 2.5 [mm] (OR 7.341 IC 95% 2,216- 24,321).
Conclusions: Either the initial punctuation in the scale of Glasgow or the displacements of the structures of the half line are the most potent predictors of mortality in the intracerebral spontaneous supratentorial hemorrhage.
