ABSTRACT

Introduction: Since it was defined in 1992 the terms of syndrome of systemic inflammatory answer, numerous works have validated the utility of these predict operative definitions and others have been against their purpose.
Objective: Determining the behavior of the syndrome of systemic inflammatory answer and their different stays in the unit of intensive pediatric therapy of the Hospital Juan M. Marquez in the understood period of January to December of the year 2012.
Method: Retrospective, longitudinal and descriptive study of all the patients that were admitted in the therapy in the period of study with a sample of 93 patients.
Results: The 72% of the patients were admitted in their initial stay and the 57% was minor of a year. The 60% came from the body of guard and the most frequent cause was the breathing infections. There was statistically significant relationship for the relationship between the stays of the syndrome to the admission and the risk of dying.
Conclusions: Spite of being of lower specificity of these approaches they continue being of utility in the medical practice since it offers us an arm in order to detect precociously the risk of developing serious forms of the illness.
