ABSTRACT

Endometriosis is the presence of extrauterine endometrial tissue. Although most cases of endometriosis are located in the pelvis, it may be found in the skin as a spontaneous or secondary lesion. The umbilicus is the most common site for primary cutaneous endometriosis and represents about 1% of all cases of ectopic endometrial tissue. We present a case of spontaneous umbilical endometriosis that a showed positive immunohistochemical reaction for estrogen and progesterone receptors.
