Agudeza visual en pacientes operados de cirugía refractiva corneal

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Corneal refractive surgery is a new technique that is responsible for correcting refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism, through the completionof several techniques.
Objective: To determine the values of visual acuity in patients undergoing corneal refractive surgery outcomes comparing preoperative and three months after surgery in terms of improvement in visual acuity.
Materials and methods: A descriptive and prospective study in the Hospital “Arnaldo Milian Castro” during the period October2012-January 2013. We study 20 patientssubmittedto it.
Results: Within results a significant improvement in visual acuity with and without glasses in most patients undergoing excimer laser corneal surgery occurs.
Conclusions: This procedure represents an important and significant step to correct different types of ametropia, since patients favorably improved their vision during the period analyzed.
