ABSTRACT

It is presented clinical, radiological, tomographic, and spirometric data of a 49- year-old inveterate smoker, who attended the consultation of the on-duty service for presenting fever of 38.5°C, anorexia, weight loss and coughing. It was performed tests in which it was included hemogram with differential, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, sputum AFB, bacteriological and cytological sputum, blood culture, chest X-ray, single-lung CAT and pulmonary function test. The initial diagnosis was community-acquired pneumonia, infected emphysematous bulla and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The clinical and radiological evolution of the patient on antibiotics confirmed the suspected diagnosis.
