ABSTRACT

The placement of an ureteral catheter after endourologic instrumentation was a gold standard in the beginning of Endourology. It was attributed benefices like facilitate the drainage of the upper collector system, fragment expulsion and to prevent the ureteral strictures, however the ureteral catheter aren´t exempt of associate morbidity. The experience gained by endourologist has been propitiated new concept and revaluations about ureteral catheter insertion post-instrumentation. Internationally is accepted do not place ureteral catheter after endourologic instrumentations in well selected patients, this is safe, reduce the catheter morbidity associate and don´t increase complications.
