ABSTRACT

Painful osteoarthritis occupies the first place among disabling disorders in old age. The Orthopaedic Service at the «Arnaldo Milián Castro» University Hospital and the Scientific and Technical Service of Regenerative Medicine belonging to the Biomedical Research Unit carried out the integral treatment of 401 patients, between November, 2013 and December, 2014.The evaluation performed before implantation of platelet growth factors and mononuclear cells showed encouraging results such as, an improvement in painful manifestations, a decrease in the consumption of drugs, as well as, a high level of satisfaction. Body mass index was increased after the implant.
