ABSTRACT

The case report of a 29 years patient is described, with a history of mitral valve prolapsewho, after 16 days of giving birth to her child, was diagnosed iliofemoral deep venous thrombosis of the right side and after 15 days, even with anticoagulant treatment, she developed a deep venous thrombosis of the left side, as well as a suggestive clinical pattern of lung thromboembolism. It was concluded as a venous thromboembolism disease, given by the presence of bilateral deep venous thrombosis. There was not occlusion of the inferior vena cava, the results of the Doppler echography was positive in both extremities and the response to the anticoagulant treatment was appropriate.
