ABSTRACT

Introduction: Cuban scientific health societies must contribute to human resource training, research development, application of science and technology, dissemination of scientifictechnical achievements, introduction of technologies and exchange of individual and collective experiences in events and scientific activities. Objective: To identify the problems affecting the functioning of the Cuban scientific health societies and to propose actions allowing to improve its functioning at present. Methods: documentary analysis, semistructured and in-depth interviews to presidents and to members of scientific societies were used; as well as analysis and synthesis to obtain the deficiencies counterfoil, threats, strengths and opportunities (SWOT). Induction method were used - deduction, modeling and system approach. Results: 59 different answers were obtained during the interviews, grouped in 7 groups of factors; SWOT, cause and effect graph and actions proposals are carried out to develop and improve the functioning of the scientific Cuban societies of the health. Conclusions: Main factors affecting the functioning of scientific Cuban health societies are identified. On the basis of these problems, actions proposals that allow the improvement and development of the functioning of scientific Cuban health societies are carried out.
