ABSTRACTObjective: to conduct an exploratory study in order to identify the actions leading to the construction of health culture in the medical career curriculum in the University of Medical Sciences of Habana during the 2012-2013 academic year.
Methods: the macrocurriculum along with the programs of the Integral General Medicine subjects were all checked.
Results: the results yielded that the graduate should render comprehensive medical care, treat the different lifestyles of the population and perform his work according to the interests of the society. Health is not conceived as a value and the construction of healthy lifestyles in the professionals as such is not conceived either.
Conclusions: the performance of the future physician is strengthened from the curative and risk viewpoint. Health promotion is included but its role is not well defined as a ruling task of medicine. The actions directed to acquire health culture are non-existent.
