The present work was aimed at highlighting the singular experience of the beginning of training of doctors in sciences in Santiago de Cuba. Since the year 1972, it was possible to implement a professors' training plan, for scientific chairs and an investigation program conducive to the scientific degree of doctorate in the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Santiago de Cuba, having the support of the respective sciences faculties of Oriente University and the tutorship of several Soviet advisers in different biomedical branches.
