Physical medicine utility in chronic sinusitis. A proposed treatment

ABSTRACT

Introduction: respiratory infections are the leading cause of morbidity in Cuba, the sinusitis are the most common upper respiratory infections in the community. The chronic sinusitis is difficult to treat and have a very wide therapeutic arsenal which can be very useful the physical medicine. Objective: to evaluate the usefulness of physical medicine in the therapy of chronic sinusitis. Method: a descriptive, prospective and longitudinal study was carried out from January to December 2014, in the Integral Rehabilitation Service of South University Polyclinic of Moron; the sample was composed of 27 patients with the diagnosis of chronic sinusitis and were administered the proposal of designed treatment. Results: the 50-59 years age group represents 51,8% of the studied cases. 59,2% of patients were female and 40,7% male. The most representative anatomical area afected, with 33.3% of patients, was the bilateral maxillary; 25 patients had mucopurulent nasal discharge and at the end of the treatment 70,3% of patients were in the category of light. Conclusions: the natural medicine is useful in the therapy of chronic sinusitis.
