Cerebral cryptococcosis in an immunocompetent patient. Case report

ABSTRACT

Cryptococcosis of the central nervous system (CNS) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in immuno-affected patients; however, its presentation in immunocompetent patients is extremely rare causing a variety of clinical manifestations, from intraparenchymal granulomatous masses called criptococomas, up to behavioral disorders and meningismus. Following, the case of a 49-year-old immunocompetent woman with cerebral cryptococcosis is presented.
