ABSTRACT

Low back pain with radicular compression data is a symptom often seen in rehabilitation consultation; lumbar synovial cysts as a cause of it, is uncommon, these injuries are related to degeneration of the facet joint; its preferred location is at L4-L5, being magnetic resonance imaging the choice for diagnosis. Surgery is the best option if there is persistent pain and neurological symptoms. We present two cases: female 55 years of age with no history of interest, came into rehab for a case of S1 nerve root compression. With MR imaging of synovial cyst left lumbar L5/S1. The other case is a female patient of 63 years with a case of right L5 nerve root compression with NMR diagnostic lumbar synovial cyst right L4/L5. Both patients managed with hemilaminectomy, cystectomy and subsequently a rehabilitation program.
