ABSTRACT

Background: The severe bleeding and massive transfusion is main topic in surgery as hepatectomy, liver transplant, urological surgeries, orthopedic, vascular and severe trauma, obstetric hemorrhage. Thromboelastography is indispensable to properly treat coagulopathy acquired by patientes undergoing to these surgeries. Methodology: We present a series of cases of patients submitted to hepatectomy and liver transplantation during phase preanhepatic, anhepatic, postanhepatic, which presented a series of changes in coagulation and the other cases massive bleeding. However, through the result of thromboelastograph the needed factors to correct were identified. Discussion: Patient were treated through the result of thrombielastography, administering platelets, cryoprecipitate, fresh frozen plasma, besides erythrocyte concentrations corroborating with the literature the changes in coagulopathy in patients undergoing these surgeries and indicated treatment decreasing the unnecessary transfusions reducing cost and morbidity of these patients.
