ABSTRACT

Mucosa melanoma is not a frequent disease originated from melanocytes which has a symptomless presentation and a bad prognosis in most cases.
Many melanomas occur in concealed places of difficult approach which contribute to a late diagnosis. A case of a malignant melanoma of the nasal fossa in a female patient aged 73 years old, with white skin and an antecedent of nasal stuffiness evolution of various months is presented. The patient came to the consultation due to nasal bleeding so the exeresis of probable ulcer necrotic polyp of the left nasal fossa is performed. The histological and immunohistochemical diagnosis was a malignant melanoma of the epithelial cells, with clear and small mucosa cells. For completing treatment the case was referred to the Oncology and Radiology National Institute where an infra and left mesostructure rhinomaxillotomy is made and diagnosis is confirmed.
