Odontogenic myxoma, review of the literature. A case report and follow-up of two years

ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to report the clinical, radiographic and histological findings about the case of a female patient aged 20 who attended the National Medical Center «La Raza», affected by a left maxillary odontogenic myxoma. As treatment was decided to address first instance the radical surgical therapy, taking into account mainly the aggressive behavior of the lesion and reconstructive therapy is sent for rehabilitation through the development of maxillofacial prosthesis. It currently has a 2-year follow obtaining acceptable aesthetic and functional results. According to current literature, the primary goal of treatment of this neoplasia is based on the size of the lesion, and this parameter of paramount importance in deciding, with respect to the choice of radical or conservative therapy.
