ABSTRACT

Ponseti management is recognized as the gold standard for treatment of clubfoot adduct congenital, and although it was described in 1963 by Dr. Ponseti, it was not until early 2000, when it has a boom and acceptance, making used today in all pediatric orthopedic centers in the world as the first and best treatment option for significantly reducing clubfoot surgical treatment for correction. The treatment protocol is very strict and details make the difference in the success of the results reported in the literature. In a study where a systematic review was done in 19 published articles using the Ponseti method for clubfoot treatment, it was found that in 11 of them, the details of handling, cast placement, and Achilles tendon tenotomy, were poorly described.
